With Nancy Tystad Koupal's retirement as Press director in June 2020, Ode serves as acting director and chief editor. She also oversees publication of the South Dakota State Historical Society's quarterly journal, South Dakota History, reading manuscripts, editing articles, and supervising production.

The driving force behind the creation of the Press in 1997, Koupal now overseas the Pioneer Girl Project as director and editor-in-chief. A program of the Press, the Pioneer Girl Project is dedicated to researching the life and works of Laura Ingalls Wilder. In addition to her work with Wilder's legacy, Koupal continues to be involved with the children's picture books.

As marketing director, McIntyre implements promotional and marketing activities, including online presences and is the Press's publicity contact for author interviews, book signings, conferences, and marketing campaigns. She also handles production and inquiries on rights and permissions for Press publications, works on illustrations, and assists with acquiring, reviewing, and editing manuscripts.

Mike Burns

Burns primarily works with South Dakota History, the society's quarterly journal. In addition to reviewing and editing manuscripts, he organizes source materials, assembles illustrations, and coordinates book reviews. As part of the Press team, he reviews, edits, and proofreads books.

Ewert works as a lead researcher for the Pioneer Girl Project, collecting source material providing historical context, and writing annotations. He also reviews manuscripts and performs editing and proofreading duties for Press books and South Dakota History.
